About the Role
As a Y Swim Instructor with YMCA of the Sandhills, you'll lead engaging swim lessons at the Saleeby Branch facility in Olivia. This full-time position combines direct instruction, careful supervision, and safety management to help community members of all ages build confidence and competency in the water.
What You'll Do
- Teach swimming lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels with clear demonstration and encouraging feedback
- Maintain vigilant, attentive supervision throughout all class sessions
- Model correct swimming techniques and proper water positioning to develop safe, effective movement
- Implement and enforce pool safety rules, behavioral expectations, and disciplinary standards
- Design and deliver structured lesson progressions that build skills and water confidence
- Function as a member of the Aquatic Safety Team and assist with emergency procedures as required
- Support activation of the facility's Emergency Action Plan during critical situations
What We're Looking For
- Current swimming instructor certification or equivalent aquatic qualification
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong interpersonal and instructional skills across diverse age groups
