Responsibilities
We are representing a confidential European defense technology organization seeking a working student to join their flight software engineering team. In this role, you will work hands-on with autopilot systems and contribute to the software stack that powers unmanned aircraft platforms.
Your core responsibilities include:
- Supporting development and testing of PX4 and autopilot software, including configuration management and log analysis
- Writing and maintaining Python tooling for test automation, data processing, and flight-log analysis
- Reproducing, isolating, and documenting software issues identified during simulation and flight testing
- Processing and visualizing flight and telemetry data to support engineering team analysis
- Maintaining the feedback loop between test results and software updates to drive continuous iteration
- Ensuring tooling, scripts, and documentation remain clean, organized, and reusable
What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a comparable technical field
- Hands-on experience with Python, ideally including data processing or automation projects
- Familiarity with PX4, ArduPilot, or comparable autopilot and flight control systems
- Must be a citizen of a NATO member state due to export control and security regulations
- Available approximately 20 hours per week during the semester, with schedule flexibility around your studies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; German language skills are a plus
