Werkstudent KI & Automatisierung (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential manufacturing technology client in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz seeking a working student (Werkstudent) to drive AI and automation initiatives.

In this role, you will own the full lifecycle of process automation projects:

• Process discovery: Conduct interviews with process owners and end users to document how workflows actually operate today, identify bottlenecks, and define improvement goals.
• Solution design: Determine which steps are candidates for automation, where AI delivers genuine value versus simple rule-based logic, estimate effort and impact, and present clear recommendations to stakeholders.
• Hands-on implementation: Build working solutions including AI agents via LLM APIs, automation workflows, REST API and webhook integrations with existing systems, data transformation pipelines, and Python or JavaScript scripts where UI tools are insufficient.
• Review and handoff: Validate solutions with process owners in real-world use, document your work so others can maintain it, and ensure clean handover.

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• Fluent German: You must conduct process interviews with users and clients in German at a business-fluent level, navigating complex technical and operational discussions.
• On-site presence: At least one day per week in Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz; remaining time is flexible and remote.
• Proven AI experience: You have already built something with AI—an agent, LLM workflow, chatbot on custom data, or automation script with model integration. We will ask for technical details in the interview.
• Enrolled student: Currently studying business informatics, computer science, business engineering, technology management, innovation management, or a related field.
• Demonstrated delivery: You have completed at least one project from start to finish, not just prototypes.
• Process thinking: You can step into unfamiliar workflows, ask the right questions, and write documentation others can understand.

Nice to have (not required):

• Experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar agent frameworks
• Practical work with RAG, vector databases, or prompt engineering beyond experimentation
• Working knowledge of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and SQL
• Familiarity with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor

15–20 hours per week during the semester, with flexibility to increase hours during breaks.
