About the Role

As a Welfare Fraud Investigator with the County of Riverside, you will join the DPSS Special Investigations Unit to detect, examine, and resolve cases of suspected fraud involving public social services benefits. This recruitment is building a pool of qualified, competitive candidates and will remain open until the position is filled. The role is based in the United States and is not a remote position.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate allegations of welfare and public assistance fraud referred to the Special Investigations Unit.
• Gather, review, and analyze documentation, records, and evidence to determine the validity of benefit claims.
• Conduct interviews with applicants, recipients, witnesses, and other parties relevant to active cases.
• Prepare clear, accurate case reports and maintain thorough investigative records.
• Collaborate with department staff, law enforcement, and legal teams as cases progress.
• Support efforts to recover improperly issued benefits and uphold program compliance.
