About the Role

You'll own the visual quality and consistency of Carvana's digital experiences across web and mobile surfaces. Working at the intersection of product design and engineering, you'll translate concepts and requirements into refined, scalable interfaces that reflect our design system and accessibility standards. Your work ensures that every interaction, every layout, and every visual element reinforces our commitment to clarity and craftsmanship.

Responsibilities

• Design high-fidelity, production-ready interfaces for projects spanning both web and mobile platforms
• Convert strategic product requirements and user flows into polished, visually coherent designs
• Apply and build upon our design system to maintain visual consistency across the product ecosystem
• Develop detailed mockups, interactive prototypes, and comprehensive design specifications
• Collaborate with product designers and engineers to refine interaction models and solve edge cases
• Establish and uphold typography, spacing, color, and visual hierarchy standards that meet accessibility requirements
• Extend existing UI patterns thoughtfully, balancing innovation with system integrity
• Spot and address design inconsistencies, recommending systematic solutions to strengthen our component library
• Document design decisions and contribute to ongoing design system evolution
• Work effectively in high-velocity cycles, maintaining craft while delivering under tight schedules
• Embrace emerging tools and workflows to enhance productivity and design impact

Requirements

• 3–5+ years in product design or user interface design roles
• Proven track record delivering polished, professional-quality designs independently
• Strong visual fundamentals including layout composition, type systems, color theory, and spatial relationships
• Solid grounding in user-centered and systems-based design thinking
• Advanced proficiency with Figma and industry-standard design and prototyping platforms
• Ability to explain design choices clearly and collaborate productively across teams
• Commitment to detail, refinement, and high visual standards
• Demonstrated experience designing within established design systems
• Background in visual design is advantageous
• Fluency in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding English
