About the Role
NuWest Travel Nursing is actively recruiting a travel RN for our Operating Room (OR) team in West Des Moines, Polk County. This is a direct-hire travel nursing assignment designed to give you flexibility, competitive compensation, and the chance to build experience across multiple healthcare environments. You'll work full-time, 36 hours per week on 10-hour day shifts, allowing you to maintain a predictable schedule while delivering expert surgical nursing care.
What You'll Do
- Deliver direct patient care in the operating room environment, supporting surgical procedures across multiple specialties
- Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesia, and support staff to ensure safe, efficient operations
- Monitor patient vitals and surgical site conditions throughout procedures
- Prepare and maintain sterile fields and surgical equipment according to OR standards
- Document patient care accurately and maintain HIPAA compliance
- Adapt to varying surgical protocols while maintaining clinical excellence
What We're Looking For
- Current RN licensure in Iowa (or compact state reciprocity)
- Minimum one year of operating room nursing experience
- Proficiency with OR equipment, surgical instrumentation, and aseptic techniques
- Strong communication skills and ability to work within fast-paced surgical teams
- Flexibility and adaptability to varying surgical specialties
- Valid CPR certification and willingness to comply with facility credentialing requirements
