About the Role
As a Travel Medical Surgical Charge Nurse with The Good Life MedStaff, you'll take on a leadership position within the med-surg unit, overseeing patient care operations during 12-hour night shifts. This role combines direct patient care responsibilities with unit coordination and nursing staff support. Working 36 hours per week, you'll manage the fast-paced demands of medical and surgical patients while mentoring nursing team members and ensuring compliance with clinical protocols.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to medical and surgical patients, including assessments, medication administration, and patient education
- Coordinate and delegate tasks to nursing staff while maintaining oversight of unit operations
- Monitor patient vital signs and clinical status, responding promptly to changes in condition
- Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in the electronic health record
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and support staff to optimize patient outcomes
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized patient care environment
Requirements
- Current RN license and active medical-surgical nursing certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification
- Travel nursing experience preferred; willingness to relocate for the 13-week assignment
- Strong communication and leadership skills
