About the Role
UVA Health's New Graduate Nurse Residency Program provides newly licensed registered nurses with a comprehensive transition from education into clinical practice. As a participating RN, you'll receive mentored support from experienced nurse educators and clinical preceptors, working with an interdisciplinary healthcare team while developing your assessment, critical thinking, and patient care skills in a nurturing educational environment. This full-time residency begins Spring or Summer 2026 and provides the structured foundation every early-career nurse needs to build clinical confidence and professional competence.
What You'll Do
- Deliver patient-centered care guided by experienced preceptors and nurse mentors throughout your residency period
- Participate in nurse rounds, interdisciplinary team conferences, and structured clinical education sessions
- Develop technical and clinical competencies including electronic health records, safe medication administration, and comprehensive patient assessment
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, therapists, and support personnel to achieve optimal patient outcomes
