Join Helen Ross McNabb Center as a Therapeutic Preschool Child Development Specialist in Lonsdale, Knox County. In this full-time role, you'll support preschool-aged children's growth and development through therapeutic education, implementing evidence-based strategies while partnering with families to foster lasting positive outcomes.
About the Role
As a Therapeutic Preschool Child Development Specialist at Helen Ross McNabb Center, you'll provide direct therapeutic support and developmental guidance to preschool children within our program. You'll create nurturing environments where children can thrive while building meaningful partnerships with families and interdisciplinary teams.
What You'll Do
- Deliver direct therapeutic interventions and support to preschool-age children addressing developmental, behavioral, and social-emotional needs
- Assess and monitor child development across key domains including cognitive, social-emotional, language, and motor skills
- Implement individualized therapeutic plans aligned with each child's specific goals and learning style
- Create structured, therapeutic learning environments that promote emotional safety and skill-building
- Collaborate with families, teachers, and other professionals to ensure coordinated, consistent support
- Document progress, maintain records, and communicate developmental milestones with stakeholders
- Model and teach coping strategies and social-emotional skills to children and families
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with young children, particularly in preschool, early childhood education, or therapeutic settings
- Strong knowledge of child development, learning theories, and evidence-based therapeutic approaches
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, families, and team members
- Ability to remain patient, compassionate, and professional in challenging situations
- Commitment to supporting children's mental health, well-being, and developmental progress
- Organizational skills and attention to detail in record-keeping and program implementation
