About This Opportunity
Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential cybersecurity organization in their search for a Staff Software Engineer focused on endpoint escalations. This role sits at the critical intersection of deep systems engineering and customer incident response, where you'll diagnose complex production failures at the code and OS-internals level while serving as the technical voice during high-severity customer situations.
You'll be the technical backbone for the most challenging customer incidents involving Windows EDR agents, performing root-cause analysis across the full Windows stack and C++ codebase while communicating directly with senior technical and executive stakeholders during active incidents.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive resolution of the most complex, escalated customer issues involving Windows endpoint agents
- Perform deep root-cause analysis across the Windows stack and C++ codebase
- Read, debug, and when necessary, modify or patch code to resolve or work around critical issues
- Serve as the primary engineering technical point of contact during high-severity incidents, communicating status, findings, and remediation plans with clarity and composure
- Partner with engineering, QA, support, and product teams to translate escalation patterns into permanent fixes and feed field learnings back into product development
- Build and maintain tooling and runbooks that accelerate future escalation triage and resolution
- Mentor support and engineering teams on Windows internals and debugging methodology to elevate first-line triage capabilities
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of hands-on technical experience handling complex customer escalations with demonstrated ability to read and debug C/C++ code
- Deep, hands-on knowledge of Windows internals including: kernel/user-mode boundary, drivers, process/memory management, file system filters, networking stack, and Windows debugging tools (WinDbg, kernel/user dumps, etc.)
- Excellent ability to debug and troubleshoot complex, ambiguous problems down to the code level
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with proven experience working directly with customers and senior leadership during critical incidents
- Experience with security-oriented or endpoint protection software (EDR/XDR, AV, or similar) is a strong advantage
- Experience with Linux and MacOS operating systems is beneficial
- Experience with endpoint backend systems is a plus
