About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential construction technology company based in Richen, Baden-Württemberg. Our talent team is seeking a Staff Engineer to join their Manufacturing Systems & Reliability function, working at the intersection of digital systems and physical production operations.

As a Staff Engineer in this role, you will lead technical initiatives across multiple teams, ensuring software systems powering large-scale manufacturing remain reliable, maintainable, and operationally excellent. You will work in a hybrid infrastructure environment combining cloud and on-premise systems, bringing an SRE mindset to monitor, maintain, and improve uptime, latency, and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build core manufacturing software and own integrations connecting digital systems to physical machines and vendor platforms
  • Lead technical initiatives ensuring reliability and operational soundness in logistics and manufacturing-heavy domains
  • Manage complex software deployments at scale across hybrid infrastructure (cloud and on-premise)
  • Apply Site Reliability Engineering practices to maintain software uptime, manage reliable updates, and optimize system efficiency
  • Bridge digital product delivery with physical manufacturing systems, including assessing vendors for integration fitness and negotiating API changes with equipment vendors
  • Mentor engineers across multiple teams and drive improvements in system-wide architecture, codebase quality, and operational excellence including incident handling
  • Define, monitor, and evolve SLAs/SLOs and critical KPIs such as OEE for production systems

What We're Looking For

  • Experienced software engineer with strong background in Site Reliability Engineering or operations
  • Practical experience across modern software development areas: infrastructure, observability, testing, deployment pipelines, quality assurance, and scaling
  • Track record operating and supporting large-scale software systems in both cloud and on-premise environments
  • Experience in companies with strong operational cultures, ideally in logistics or manufacturing, with understanding of commercial impact of system downtime
  • Comfort owning integrations with external systems and ability to shape and negotiate vendor or machine APIs toward maintainable, scalable interfaces
  • Experience mentoring and guiding engineers at various levels
  • Proficiency with most of the following technologies:
    • Kotlin / SpringBoot
    • Kubernetes
    • Linux
    • PostgreSQL
    • TimeFold / Camunda / BPMN / Optimization
    • Python / Bash (plus)
    • OPC-UA / PLC / SPS (plus)
  • Cloud operations experience (Azure experience is a bonus)
  • Familiarity with monitoring and alerting practices for production systems
  • Experience defining and working with SLAs/SLOs is a bonus
  • Willingness to travel within Germany for team events and manufacturing site visits
