SR INFORMATION SECURITY ENGINEER-PUB SEC

Lumen is seeking a Senior Information Security Engineer for our public sector division based in Stamford, Fairfield County. In this full-time role, you'll protect critical infrastructure and secure the networks that federal and government agencies depend on.

About the Role

As a Senior Information Security Engineer in our public sector division, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security solutions across government-grade networks and systems. You'll work on Lumen's fiber-based infrastructure, ensuring that the connectivity and cloud services we provide to federal agencies and public-sector customers meet the highest security standards.

What You'll Do

• Develop and enforce security architectures for public sector infrastructure projects
• Conduct threat assessments and vulnerability evaluations across network systems
• Lead security incident response efforts and forensic investigations
• Ensure compliance with government security frameworks including FedRAMP, NIST, and FISMA requirements
• Design and implement access control policies and authentication mechanisms
• Collaborate with federal and state agency partners to meet their security compliance requirements
• Monitor security operations and identify emerging threats to critical infrastructure
• Document security policies, procedures, and security posture assessments

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of information security experience, with 3+ years in a senior or lead role
• Deep expertise in government security standards such as NIST, FedRAMP, and FISMA
• Strong background in cloud security, network security, and infrastructure protection
• Security certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Security+
• Experience with incident response and security operations
• Knowledge of federal government procurement and compliance processes
• Excellent communication skills for working with government stakeholders
• Secret or higher-level security clearance (preferred)
