Open Sky Community Services is seeking a dedicated Awake Overnight Counselor to join the Ives Youth Group Care program on a full-time, 36-hour schedule in West Side, Worcester County. This onsite role is ideal for a compassionate professional who thrives during overnight hours and is committed to supporting children and adolescents on their path to stability and growth.
About the Role
As an Awake Overnight Counselor with the Ives Youth Group Care team, you will provide attentive, hands-on supervision and care during nighttime hours within a residential setting. You will help maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for young people working through social-emotional, behavioral, or psychiatric challenges, supporting their journey back to their homes, schools, and communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Remain awake and alert throughout the overnight shift to ensure the safety and well-being of every youth in the program.
- Monitor the residence, conduct regular checks, and respond calmly and appropriately to the needs of children and adolescents.
- Support daily routines, bedtime transitions, and morning preparation in a consistent, age-appropriate manner.
- Document overnight observations and communicate clearly with daytime staff and clinical team members.
- Reinforce evidence-based, wraparound approaches that promote each young person's progress and recovery.
Qualifications
- Genuine interest in working with children and adolescents in a youth group care or residential environment.
- Ability to stay awake, focused, and responsive during overnight hours.
