Special Education Teacher – Oak Lawn

Parkland Preparatory Academy's South campus in Oak Lawn is seeking a full-time Certified Special Education Teacher to lead classroom instruction and support K-12 students with diverse learning needs. In this position, you'll develop and implement Individualized Education Plans, guide transition planning, and ensure students meet state academic standards and district graduation requirements.

About the Role

As a Certified Special Education Teacher at Parkland Preparatory Academy, you'll be the primary educator for students receiving special education services, designing and delivering instruction that addresses academic, social, and developmental needs. Working under the direction of the Principal, you'll combine evidence-based teaching practices with individualized planning to help each student achieve meaningful growth and success.

What You'll Do

• Lead classroom instruction aligned with state academic standards and district curriculum to support student learning
• Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) reflecting each student's strengths, needs, and specific goals
• Guide students through transition planning to prepare them for post-secondary education, employment, and independent living
• Regularly assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies to support achievement toward graduation requirements
• Collaborate with general education staff, support personnel, and families to create an inclusive learning community
• Maintain detailed records and ensure compliance with special education regulations and school district policies
• Support students' social, emotional, and behavioral development alongside academic learning

What We're Looking For

• Valid state teaching certification in Special Education (K-12)
• Demonstrated skill in designing differentiated instruction for students with varying learning profiles and abilities
• Strong knowledge of IEP development, student assessment, and progress monitoring practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, families, and colleagues
• Commitment to inclusive education and high academic and behavioral expectations for all learners
• Ability to work collaboratively under school leadership and administrative direction
