Software Engineer – AI Research Clusters

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology organization at the cutting edge of artificial intelligence and high-performance computing infrastructure. Our client is seeking a Software Engineer to design and maintain the platform systems that power their internal AI research operations. You'll build tooling and automation that allows research teams to run large-scale GPU cluster workloads with minimal operational friction.

This is a platform engineering role focused on reliability, observability, and developer experience. You'll reduce toil through systematic automation, explore emerging approaches in AIOps and agentic systems, and ensure researchers can focus on model development rather than infrastructure management.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate across platform teams to identify pain points in GPU cluster validation, monitoring, and operations at scale
• Design, develop, and maintain engineering solutions that systematically address operational challenges
• Research and apply traditional AIOps methods and emerging agentic AI techniques to reduce operational overhead
• Participate in on-call rotation supporting the platforms and systems owned by your team
• Build self-service tooling that empowers research teams to improve reliability and performance continuously

What We're Looking For

Required:

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
• 2+ years in software or platform engineering, with at least 1 year in ML infrastructure or distributed systems
• Hands-on experience with the software development lifecycle on Linux-based platforms
• Strong coding ability in Python, C++, or Rust
• Practical experience with Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab CI, and automated deployment pipelines
• Production experience applying AIOps or agentic AI to operational challenges

Preferred:

• Full-stack development skills: relational data modeling, database optimization, REST API design, JavaScript, CSS, API service delivery
• Demonstrated passion for building developer-centric platforms with excellent UX and operational reliability
• Production experience with Slurm or custom scheduling frameworks in ML environments
• Familiarity with GPU computing, Linux internals, and performance tuning at scale
