Software Architect (AWS, NodeJS) – Latin America, Remote

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential software consultancy serving clients across the United States and Latin America. We are seeking a Software Architect with deep AWS and Node.js expertise to join their remote team in Peru. This role offers the opportunity to design complex, high-performance systems for diverse client engagements while working in a collaborative, growth-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and architect low-latency service architectures in AWS, making informed decisions about distributed components including queues, caches, and search projections
• Build systems to explicit latency budgets (p95/p99) and optimize synchronous durable commits in performance-critical paths
• Design audit and evidence systems featuring append-only event logs, versioned or bitemporal data models, and deterministic historical replay capabilities
• Architect secure multi-tenant environments with comprehensive tradeoff analysis (Row-Level Security vs. schema-per-tenant vs. database-per-tenant)
• Define fail-open, fail-closed, and degraded-state semantics with clear outage postures
• Design and build scalable RESTful APIs and SDK integrations to external services
• Develop capacity models and cloud cost/performance projections aligned with AWS Well-Architected Framework
• Establish technical standards, conduct architecture and code reviews, and mentor engineering teams
• Produce architecture documentation, diagrams, and technical decision records (ADRs)
• Present and defend architecture decisions in client engineering and security reviews

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, including 3+ years in an architecture-focused role
• Deep expertise with PostgreSQL/AuroraDB and Row-Level Security (RLS) at data-modeling and architecture levels
• Strong proficiency in Node.js, TypeScript, and JavaScript across the full stack
• Proven experience designing audit/evidence systems and multi-tenant architectures
• Demonstrated ability to architect large, complex systems end-to-end
• Experience working with AI coding assistants as part of daily development workflows
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred
• Ability to overlap with US business hours
• Extreme ownership, accountability, and client-focused dedication
• Strong problem-solving skills, technical leadership abilities, and meticulous attention to detail
• Experience in compliance-sensitive or regulated domains (TCPA/DNC, fintech, audit-heavy systems) is a plus
• Familiarity with event-driven design, message queues, and caching strategies at scale is advantageous
