Senior/Staff Software Engineer – Rendering API

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential gaming technology company for a Senior/Staff Software Engineer – Rendering API role based in London. In this position, you will:

• Work on current and future rendering APIs used by high-performance gaming applications, as well as the hardware architecture that underpins them
• Design and implement features that enable efficient game development, advance GPU programming techniques, and create a robust platform ecosystem
• Monitor industry trends and maintain deep understanding of developer needs to inform technical decision-making
• Help shape the strategic direction of the graphics software stack for a leading gaming platform
• Collaborate closely with platform software teams, hardware engineers, and game development studios
• Serve as an advocate bridging platform teams and game developers, representing each perspective to the other

This is a senior engineering position at the core of GPU technology with significant influence on the future of console graphics programming. You will work with a high degree of autonomy, spending your time determining what needs to be built, designing optimal implementations, and hands-on coding and debugging rather than in committee meetings or writing proposals.

What We're Looking For

• Strong experience and genuine interest in low-level graphics architecture and engineering
• Proven track record writing rendering code using multiple existing rendering APIs
• Experience developing rendering code for console platforms
• Ability to maintain strategic perspective while working through complex technical details
• Eagerness to learn continuously and take long-term ownership of critical systems
• Passion for advancing graphics programming technology
