Senior Software Engineer – REDAPL Graph Engine

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential observability platform client seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Referential Data Platform team. This platform tracks infrastructure resources and relationships at massive scale, ingesting over 4.5 million updates per second and powering critical security, cost management, and catalog products used by enterprise customers globally.

As a Senior Engineer, you will build and optimize a graph query engine designed for efficient relationship traversals at demanding workloads. You'll drive high-priority technical decisions across data ingestion, processing, and query pipelines while collaborating with product teams across the organization.

This is a hybrid position available in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, or the UK.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize a query engine supporting efficient graph relationship traversals for high-performance workloads
• Design and drive high-visibility projects that increase platform value, resilience, and scalability
• Lead engineering teams through complex architectural decisions for the platform
• Identify system risks and reliability trends, designing solutions to address them proactively
• Provide input on short- and long-term roadmaps for engineering-led initiatives
• Collaborate with internal product teams to understand requirements and plan for product growth as they integrate with the platform

What We're Looking For

Required qualifications:

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related scientific field, or equivalent experience
• Extensive experience working with multiple types of data stores
• Several years contributing to initiatives in a platform or infrastructure-focused environment
• Track record of leading impactful technical initiatives where performance, cost efficiency, ease of use, and resilience are primary concerns
• Significant back-end engineering experience building and operating distributed systems at high scale

Bonus qualifications:

• Experience with graph databases such as Neo4j, Memgraph, JanusGraph, ArangoDB, Amazon Neptune, or PuppyGraph
• Production-grade experience with Apache Iceberg
• Solid understanding of query planning or contributions to production-grade query engines (e.g., Trino, Calcite, Substrait, DataFusion), ideally demonstrated through open-source contributions or PMC membership
