Senior Software Engineer (m/f/d)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential healthcare technology organization based in Mainz, Germany. Our client is seeking a Senior Software Engineer who wants to do more than maintain existing systems—they're looking for someone ready to shape the technical evolution of production applications used daily in the healthcare sector.

This role offers genuine ownership: you'll take features from technical design through to release, while contributing to an exciting architectural transformation. The team is systematically evolving their monolithic architecture toward a more modular structure with clearly defined domain boundaries, all while maintaining stability in a live production environment.

You won't simply implement predefined solutions. Your experience will directly influence technical decisions, from architecture and code quality to long-term strategic choices. The organization is also expanding AI integration in their development processes, giving you the opportunity to shape how these tools genuinely improve quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance web applications using C#, ASP.NET Core, and ReactJS
• Build new features and actively contribute to modernizing the architecture toward clearly defined domain boundaries
• Take end-to-end ownership of releases within the change management process
• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to automate release processes
• Shape AI-assisted software development practices throughout the development lifecycle while maintaining sound technical judgment in architectural decisions and code reviews
• Ensure software quality through automated testing and code reviews
• Provide technical mentoring to support new team members

What We're Looking For

• Completed degree or vocational training in Computer Science, Software Development, or a comparable field
• Several years of professional software development experience with C#,.NET Core, and Entity Framework
• Experience taking end-to-end ownership of a service or domain, from initial technical design through production release
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs, MS SQL, and modern JavaScript technologies including React and TypeScript
• Solid understanding of CI/CD processes, Azure DevOps, and hosting applications on Microsoft Azure
• Knowledge of healthcare communication standards such as FHIR or HL7
• Confidence using AI-assisted development tools with the technical judgment to critically evaluate their output
• Required: Fluent English skills at B2 level or above
• Nice to have: German language skills
