Senior Software Engineer, Digital Twin Platform

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential e-commerce technology company in their search for a Senior Software Engineer to join their Digital Twin Platform team. This role focuses on building sophisticated real-time inventory intelligence systems that power critical product experiences across search, advertising, logistics, and fulfillment.

You'll work on next-generation platforms that provide warehouse-level precision and depth, scaled across numerous physical retail locations. This position offers the opportunity to tackle complex challenges at the intersection of distributed systems, machine learning infrastructure, and real-time data processing.

This is a remote position within the United States, with a flexible work arrangement that allows you to work from home, an office, or another location of your choice while staying connected through regular in-person team events.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate platforms and services that power real-time understanding of product availability and location across a retail network
• Develop data ingestion, processing, and serving systems that combine partner data feeds, inventory observations, and machine learning outputs into reliable, scalable infrastructure
• Collaborate with machine learning engineers, computer vision engineers, product teams, and data scientists to move models and data pipelines from research to production environments
• Take ownership of ambiguous, large-scale technical challenges across mapping, inventory management, logistics, and computer vision domains
• Balance rapid delivery with long-term architectural quality and system reliability
• Contribute to platform observability, testing strategies, and operational excellence practices

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
• 5+ years of software engineering experience designing, building, and operating large-scale production systems
• Strong proficiency in at least one backend programming language such as Python, Java, Scala, or Go
• Experience with SQL and database technologies
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Proven track record of shipping production software with emphasis on reliability, testing, observability, and maintainability

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with machine learning infrastructure, computer vision systems, image-based data pipelines, or annotation platforms
• Background with real-time, streaming, or geospatial services and systems in production environments
• Experience building data-intensive products in e-commerce, retail, logistics, or grocery sectors
• Familiarity with edge devices, IoT, or hardware-software integration
• Knowledge of data processing frameworks such as Spark, Kafka, or Airflow

Pay

Compensation for this role varies by location. Our client offers highly competitive base pay ranges that depend on your permanent work location within the United States, as well as equity grants for new hires and annual refresh grants. All offers are determined based on candidate experience and the skills required for the role.
