Senior Software Engineer – BaseOS

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer focused on BaseOS, you will drive the design and implementation of core operating system components that underpin Nvidia's computing infrastructure. Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Design and develop operating system features and subsystems that optimize performance, reliability, and scalability
• Collaborate with hardware engineers and architects to translate silicon capabilities into efficient software implementations
• Conduct comprehensive code reviews, mentor junior engineers, and champion engineering best practices across BaseOS teams
• Debug complex system-level issues, analyze performance bottlenecks, and deliver targeted optimizations across the full stack
• Participate in technical design reviews and contribute to foundational system architecture decisions
• Develop test strategies, automation frameworks, and continuous integration pipelines to ensure software quality

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with demonstrated expertise in operating systems, kernel development, or low-level systems programming
• Strong proficiency in C/C++ or comparable systems-level programming languages
• Proven track record shipping production software and solving complex technical challenges with incomplete information
• Deep understanding of operating system principles, including process management, memory management, and I/O subsystems
• Experience with debugging tools, performance profiling methodologies, and system-level optimization techniques
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work effectively across teams
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
