Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology organization seeking a Senior Security Engineer to join their three-person CISO team in a hybrid working model based in München. This is a hands-on role where you'll take genuine technical ownership rather than managing ticket queues.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Taking technical ownership of security architecture and controls across an Azure environment, including Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, and Log Analytics, implementing guardrails directly in Terraform
  • Developing and continuously improving security detections in close collaboration with the Security Analyst responsible for SIEM monitoring and triage
  • Advancing vulnerability management and monitoring across a hybrid environment, including cloud infrastructure and on-premises systems during an ongoing migration
  • Contributing security expertise across identity, endpoint security, application security, incident response, and AI, developing tooling for AI-assisted penetration testing and translating it into scalable processes
  • Building and maintaining internal security tools and automations using AI-assisted development tools, while identifying AI-specific risks from coding assistants to prompt injection

What We're Looking For

Our client needs someone with substantial hands-on security engineering experience who can implement and operate the controls they design:

  • At least five years of experience in security engineering with several years of hands-on Azure security implementation
  • AZ-500 certification or equivalent practical expertise (SC-100, CISSP, CCSP, or Security+ are advantageous)
  • Strong ability to read, write, and develop security-related Terraform code
  • Practical experience with Entra ID, RBAC, and PIM
  • Solid knowledge of network security, SIEM, and detection engineering
  • Experience with Python, Django, PowerShell, or AI-assisted development is a plus
  • Ideally, experience with traditional or AI-assisted penetration testing and vulnerability management tools such as Tenable or Microsoft Defender Vulnerability Management
  • A hands-on mindset—you implement and operate security controls, not just design them
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to share knowledge and responsibility across joint ownership areas
  • Professional English communication skills (German is a plus but not required)

Experience with ongoing cloud migrations and AI/LLM security is welcome but not essential. Substance and genuine capability matter more than buzzwords.
