Senior Python Software Engineer (gn) / part-time or full-time

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential technology client in Berlin seeking a Senior Python Software Engineer for a part-time (minimum 32h/week) or full-time position. Our talent team is managing this search on behalf of an organization building a platform that serves families and individuals across Europe.

This role offers significant backend ownership, infrastructure responsibilities, and the chance to mentor engineers while working with modern Python tooling. You'll collaborate with an international team in Berlin-Kreuzberg and contribute to technical decisions that directly impact product outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Own significant portions of backend architecture, system design, and platform performance optimization
• Manage server infrastructure, deployment pipelines, hosting stability, and site reliability engineering tasks
• Implement security-first approaches to data protection, access controls, and vulnerability management
• Conduct thorough code reviews and provide technical mentorship to team members
• Make product-minded engineering decisions that balance technical quality with business impact
• Maintain and evolve systems built primarily with Python backend frameworks and modern JavaScript
• Work hands-on with databases, analytics tooling, and continuous deployment workflows

What We're Looking For

• Several years of professional Python development experience with comfort working independently on complex backend systems
• Strong experience with server-side web frameworks; Django experience preferred but not mandatory
• Solid database design and management skills; familiarity with analytics or data visualization tools is a plus
• Practical DevOps and site reliability engineering experience including server configuration, deployment environments, debugging, and performance tuning
• Pragmatic, team-centered mindset with inclusive communication style
• Enthusiasm for in-person collaboration and active team culture
• Fluent English required for international team collaboration; German language skills are beneficial
• GitHub profile or portfolio demonstrating relevant technical work
