Senior Propulsion Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential aerospace organization in Germany that is seeking a Senior Propulsion Engineer to lead solid rocket motor projects from conception through production. Our client operates in the space and defense sectors and is experiencing significant growth.

This is an end-to-end technical ownership role where you'll take propulsion systems from initial requirements through design, manufacturing, testing, and production readiness. You'll work hands-on with hardware while maintaining responsibility for analysis and decision-making throughout the development cycle.

Responsibilities

• Lead propulsion projects from requirements definition to production-ready hardware
• Perform and review design and analysis covering internal ballistics, grain geometry, nozzle design, and structural components
• Coordinate design, manufacture, assembly, instrumentation, and static-fire testing activities
• Collaborate with chemistry and manufacturing teams to select materials and propellant solutions
• Conduct post-test analysis and drive redesign iterations based on test data
• Prepare technical documentation, design reviews, test plans, and analysis reports
• Support qualification activities, customer demonstrations, and production scaling
• Mentor and develop junior engineers

What We're Looking For

• Degree in aerospace, mechanical, chemical engineering, or related discipline
• Professional experience in propulsion, aerospace hardware, or experimental engineering
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of technical projects and deliver working results
• Working knowledge across multiple propulsion disciplines combined with strong engineering fundamentals
• Experience transitioning between computational analysis and hands-on hardware work
• Proactive, self-managing approach with ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments
• Comfortable with autonomy and high-ownership technical roles

Highly desirable experience includes:

• Direct experience designing, manufacturing, or testing solid rocket motors
• Propellant formulation, characterization, or energetic materials work
• Static-fire testing and instrumentation data analysis
• Launch vehicle design, productionization, or qualification experience
