Senior Product Design Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential consumer technology company seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer to join their remote-first design team. This is a design-first role where you'll leverage both your product design expertise and engineering fluency to maintain exceptional quality across a suite of digital products including native applications and web platforms.

In this position, you'll own quality end-to-end, using your engineering skills to close the gap between intended design and shipped product. You'll be fluent enough in code to prototype at production standards, spec precisely, and partner with engineers as a peer—even working directly in the codebase to ensure execution meets the quality bar you set. As the second design engineer on the team, you'll have meaningful opportunities to shape both the role and the discipline.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-impact product design projects autonomously from ideation through execution, working at scale across current and new product initiatives
• Collaborate cross-functionally to solve complex design problems, with a strong voice in product design decisions both large and small
• Create high-quality mockups, prototypes, and motion specifications that communicate visual and interaction recommendations clearly
• Partner with engineering teams as a peer, contributing to PR reviews and writing code where it elevates design quality
• Build production-standard prototypes using semantic markup with accessibility in mind
• Participate in multiple areas of the product process including prioritization, strategy, and user testing
• Define requirements and build tools that accelerate design and engineering workflows while maintaining design system quality and consistency
• Conduct research and run experiments using both qualitative and quantitative data, including instrumenting your own work

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years in product design roles, including 2+ years at a senior level with significant global consumer brands
• Demonstrated ability to push creative limits on challenging design problems while delivering delight, craft, and exceptional quality
• Proven experience prototyping in code to production standards with understanding of semantic markup and accessibility principles
• Deep experience structuring design systems beyond component libraries—including token layering, primitive vs. semantic naming, and design-to-code parity
• Strong communication skills with ability to articulate visual and interaction recommendations through mockups, rationale, prototypes, and specific motion variables
• Comfort partnering with engineers as a peer, reasoning about technical decisions and contributing code when appropriate
• Proficiency in research and experimentation methodologies, comfortable working with both qualitative and quantitative data
• Track record of taking initiative—generating ideas and driving them forward with urgency while working openly and collaboratively
• Experience participating across the full product development process including prioritization and strategy

This is a remote, full-time position. Compensation details will be discussed during the screening process with our recruiting team.
