Role Overview
We're seeking a Staff Data Scientist to join our Data Science Functional Team. At DuckDuckGo, we are committed to online privacy and trust. Our team of over 300 professionals operates remotely, with a focus on empowering each member for full ownership of their projects from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive product and business impact by enhancing our search engine ranking and results.
- Improve first-phase ranking quality and precision without compromising latency.
- Develop new lexical-matching and document-authority signals.
- Expand search evaluations to measure relevancy readiness and identify ranking blindspots.
- Investigate large language models (LLMs) for feature generation and ranking.
Requirements
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in Data Science, with at least 2+ years at Staff, Principal, or Director level.
- A proven track record of leading high-complexity projects from scoping to production with minimal direction.
- Comfort advising others on complex data science work and developing strategic plans.
- Ability to develop strategies for sparse data sets in an evidence-first culture emphasizing quantitative rigor.
