Senior Product Design Engineer

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential privacy-focused technology company seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer to join their remote-first design team. This is a design-first role where you'll leverage your product design expertise and engineering fluency to maintain exceptional quality across consumer products at scale. You'll be the second design engineer on the team, with real opportunities to shape the discipline and role itself.

In this position, you'll own quality end-to-end, using your engineering skills to close the gap between intended design and shipped product. You'll prototype in code, spec precisely, and partner with engineers as a peer—sometimes working directly in the codebase to ensure execution meets the quality bar you set. This is true end-to-end ownership: from scoping and execution through postmortem.

Responsibilities

• Lead high-impact design projects autonomously from ideation through execution for consumer products at significant scale
• Maintain exceptional design quality across multiple product surfaces through hands-on design engineering work
• Prototype in code to production standards, understanding semantic markup and accessibility principles
• Partner with engineering teams as a peer, contributing code where it raises design quality and participating in PR reviews
• Communicate visual and interaction recommendations through high-quality mockups, rationale, prototypes, and specific motion variables
• Structure and evolve design systems beyond component inventory: token layering, primitive vs. semantic naming, design-to-code parity
• Define requirements and build tools that accelerate design and engineering workflows while maintaining design system consistency
• Conduct research and experimentation using qualitative and quantitative data, instrumenting your own work
• Participate in product process areas including prioritization, strategy, and user testing

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years in product design roles, including 2+ years at senior level at significant global consumer brands
• Demonstrated ability to push creative limits on complex design problems while delivering exceptional craft and quality
• Code prototyping skills to production standard with understanding of semantic markup and accessibility
• Experience partnering with engineers as a peer—able to reason about technical decisions and contribute code
• Deep experience structuring design systems: token layering, naming conventions, design-to-code parity
• Proficiency in research and experimentation with both qualitative and quantitative data
• Strong initiative—generates ideas and carries them forward with urgency while working openly
• Experience building tools that accelerate design and engineering workflows
• Participation across product process areas including prioritization and strategy
• Ability to work remotely with full-time commitment and attend video meetings on camera
• Willingness to travel approximately twice yearly for company meetups (4-5 days each)

Pay

Pay via Get A Job.ai: $178,500 USD annually plus equity. Our client maintains compensation transparency across professional levels regardless of geographic location.
