About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential photonics venture developing advanced optical integration technology. This is a rare ground-floor opportunity to join as one of the first technical hires and shape the characterization strategy for next-generation photonic interconnect solutions. The role is based in Besançon, France, and offers direct collaboration with the founding team on technology that enables scaling in AI, telecommunications, and sensing applications.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical characterization and analysis of 3D optical components interfaced with silicon photonics, SiN, TFLN, InP, and optical fiber platforms
• Develop and operate advanced measurement setups using cameras, photodetectors, optical spectrum analyzers, and probe stations
• Produce rigorous measurement reports and technical documentation with detailed analytical interpretation
• Supervise and mentor characterization activities for both customer deliverables and internal R&D projects
• Design and implement automated industrial-scale characterization procedures to support production deployment
• Perform bare-die and wafer-level opto-electronic testing and qualification

What We're Looking For

• Engineer, Master's, or PhD degree in optics, photonics, physics, or related engineering discipline
• Multiple years of hands-on experience with integrated optics characterization and qualification in a laboratory setting
• Strong proficiency with optical measurement equipment and experimental techniques
• Demonstrated expertise in chip-level and/or wafer-level opto-electronic characterization
• Experience building or leading development of automated test benches is highly valued
• Full professional proficiency in English required; French is optional
• Someone who thrives on genuinely difficult technical problems and wants significant influence on early-stage technology decisions
