Senior M&A Business Analyst (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential energy-trading organization in their search for a Senior M&A Business Analyst based in Berlin. In this senior role, you will lead analytical work on M&A opportunities in the energy and battery-storage sectors, shape investment decisions, and support deal execution from start to finish.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Analyzing markets, competitors, regulation, and technology across energy and battery-storage sectors
• Sourcing and evaluating M&A opportunities, including battery energy storage system deals, and supporting due diligence through to deal close
• Building and reviewing financial models, investment cases, valuation scenarios, and cost analyses
• Structuring analytical approaches and producing clear, decision-ready materials for senior stakeholders
• Owning analytical workstreams end-to-end, managing concurrent projects, and escalating issues with proposed solutions
• Coordinating input from internal teams and working with external stakeholders, including banks, co-investors, and partners
• Supporting portfolio optimization, growth initiatives, and post-acquisition integration where relevant
• Guiding junior analysts, reviewing their work, and helping maintain quality standards across team deliverables

What We're Looking For

• Degree in business, finance, or a STEM field
• Experience in M&A, investment analysis, corporate finance, consulting, financial modeling, or business analysis
• Strong financial-modeling skills, including DCF, IRR, NPV, scenario analysis, and investment cases
• Advanced analytical capability and ability to structure complex problems independently
• Solid data-handling, analysis, and visualization skills; Python or automation experience is a plus
• Fluency in German and English is required
• Curious, quick to learn, and comfortable applying critical and creative thinking to business problems
