Senior Legal Counsel (f/m/d) – Commercial & IP Law

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential robotics and technology organization seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their Legal Department in Munich. In this role, you will take ownership of sophisticated commercial and intellectual property matters, working closely with Business, Engineering, Procurement, and Management teams on projects involving hardware, software, and advanced technology.

• Draft, review, and negotiate complex national and international commercial agreements, including supply, procurement, sales, service, cooperation, development, licensing, software, and technology agreements
• Independently lead sophisticated commercial legal matters from initial instruction through negotiation and execution, acting as primary legal contact for the business
• Advise on intellectual property matters in a commercial context, particularly IP ownership, licensing, background and foreground IP, know-how, and trade secrets, including IP-related aspects of technology and development collaborations
• Advise on complex project-related contracts and support cross-functional teams throughout the entire project lifecycle, including Proof-of-Concept and Proof-of-Technology projects
• Handle supplier, procurement, and strategic sourcing agreements, including contract negotiations and legal risk assessments
• Prepare, review, and negotiate NDAs and other confidentiality-related documentation
• Act as a trusted legal business partner for internal stakeholders across multiple jurisdictions and international group companies
• Provide legal support to group companies and recently acquired businesses
• Proactively identify legal and commercial risks and develop pragmatic solutions that enable business objectives
• Support other Legal team members on cross-functional matters where required

What We're Looking For

• Fully qualified German lawyer (Volljurist) with strong academic credentials
• At least five years of post-qualification experience (after Second State Examination), the majority gained at a leading international law firm
• Genuine, hands-on experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements, comfortable independently leading negotiations with sophisticated counterparties
• Strong exposure to intellectual property law in a commercial context, particularly IP licensing, technology-related agreements, know-how, and trade-secret protection
• Experience advising technology, software, hardware, industrial, or engineering businesses is a strong advantage
• In-house experience, whether through a previous in-house role or substantial secondment, is highly desirable in addition to law firm experience
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills; able to take ownership and make pragmatic decisions without extensive internal processes or hierarchies
• Enjoy working as part of a small, collaborative team and willing to support matters outside immediate area of expertise when required
• Fluent in German and English, comfortable negotiating sophisticated commercial agreements in both languages
