Senior Data Engineer – Real time analytics

We are representing a rapidly scaling technology company in the customer communications space. Our client operates at significant scale, serving tens of thousands of organizations globally, and is actively investing in their real-time analytics capabilities to unlock data-driven insights for their user base.

We're seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join their Analytics & Data Platform team in London. This is a critical role focused on building and optimizing near real-time streaming infrastructure that powers analytics for a global customer base.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable, low-latency streaming platform solutions that provide near real-time data capabilities for production applications
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into optimized data models suitable for big data environments
• Identify performance bottlenecks in queries and implement optimization strategies to improve system responsiveness
• Write clean, maintainable code in Scala, Python, and SQL; test and deploy data applications to production
• Solve complex data engineering challenges using optimal architectures and frameworks, working with both structured and unstructured data sources
• Contribute to an engineering culture that prioritizes quality, security, and scalability
• Monitor platform performance and participate in live site support activities
• Provide mentorship to team members through constructive feedback and knowledge sharing

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field
• 5+ years of professional experience with modern programming languages such as Scala, Python, Go, or TypeScript
• 3+ years of hands-on experience building near real-time analytics systems
• Proven track record designing complex data processing pipelines at scale
• Strong experience with data modeling techniques including star schema and dimensional modeling, particularly in cloud data warehouse environments
• Demonstrated expertise in query optimization for performance tuning
• Experience with streaming technologies such as Kafka is highly valued
• Track record of shipping and maintaining production code in live environments
• Collaborative mindset with strong communication skills and openness to new ideas

Relevant technical experience includes: AWS services (Kinesis, Kafka, S3, Glue, EMR, Redshift), Apache Pinot, Apache Flink, Airflow, and modern CI/CD practices.

Pay
