Senior BI Developer (m/w/d)

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential technology-focused organization in Munich seeking a Senior BI Developer to design and deliver modern data solutions that transform reliable data into actionable insights and better business decisions.

In this role, you will work autonomously on demanding client projects while maintaining direct communication with technical and business stakeholders. Your responsibilities include:

• Developing and advancing modern BI and data solutions using Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Azure
• Building and maintaining lakehouses, data warehouses, data pipelines, and notebooks
• Creating high-performance Power BI models, reports, and DAX calculations
• Designing and optimizing SQL-based data structures and models
• Translating business requirements into concrete technical implementation steps
• Independently coordinating technical topics with clients from IT and business units
• Planning and estimating development effort while executing within agile project teams
• Developing, testing, documenting, and deploying data products to production
• Leveraging modern AI tools to optimize development, analysis, documentation, and quality assurance
• Designing and implementing AI-based data products for concrete business use cases
• Identifying and testing meaningful applications for automation, bots, copilots, and AI agents
• Converting successful AI prototypes into secure, maintainable, production-ready solutions
• Working with version control and collaborative development processes, ideally Git and Azure DevOps
• Proactively identifying and communicating risks, data issues, or unclear requirements
• Recognizing optimization potential in existing data landscapes
• Documenting best practices and sharing knowledge within the team

What We're Looking For

You combine strong technical expertise with the ability to communicate complex topics clearly. You are confident in direct client interactions and take ownership of your technical responsibilities.

Required qualifications:

• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in BI or data platform development
• Experience collaborating with clients and/or business stakeholders
• Strong knowledge of the Azure data ecosystem, particularly Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, or Synapse
• Practical experience with lakehouse and data warehouse concepts
• Excellent Power BI skills, especially data modeling, DAX, and reporting
• Excellent SQL knowledge
• Proficiency with dimensional data modeling and star schema concepts
• Experience with ETL/ELT processes, data pipelines, and notebook-based workflows
• Experience in agile development environments working with user stories, effort estimation, and sprint goals
• Knowledge of Git and modern collaborative development processes
• Experience with testing, deployment, and operating production data solutions
• Excellent English skills, written and spoken
• Routine and responsible use of modern AI tools such as Copilot, Claude, Cursor, or comparable solutions

Particularly valuable:

• Experience developing and implementing AI-powered data products
• Knowledge of current LLMs and small language models
• Experience with LLM APIs, agent orchestration, or automation platforms
• Familiarity with tools like n8n, Make, or comparable technologies
• Experience transitioning AI prototypes into secure, maintainable production solutions
• Databricks knowledge
• Python or PySpark experience
• German language skills at B2 level or above
• Experience in customer-oriented project environments
• Willingness to actively follow technological developments and share insights with the team
