Senior Accountant – Hybrid – NL/BE/DE/LU/FR

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential software organization in their search for a Senior Accountant to join their European finance team. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work across multiple jurisdictions and support financial operations for a growing business. You'll collaborate closely with senior finance leadership and play a key role in month-end close, statutory compliance, and team development.

Responsibilities

• Execute financial period close tasks, including complex journal entries and accounting analysis across multiple entities
• Perform balance sheet analysis, account reconciliations, and intercompany transaction reconciliation
• Manage vendor relationships, cost accruals, payment processing, and bank transfers with appropriate approval workflows
• Prepare and process payroll tax returns, VAT returns, and intra-community declarations for local entities
• Lead annual statutory audits, year-end financial statement closings, and tax filings for assigned jurisdictions
• Prepare financial KPIs, variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast), and ad-hoc management reporting
• Support the Head of Finance in supervising AP/AR analysts through coaching, work review, and onboarding
• Ensure key controls and procedures are implemented and followed consistently
• Travel occasionally to other European offices for period closings, audits, and team collaboration
• Contribute to special projects as business needs evolve

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience, ideally in a multi-currency and multi-divisional environment
• Professional qualification in bookkeeping or accounting (CPA, ACCA, or equivalent) is highly valued
• Strong expertise in accrual accounting theory and practice
• Proficiency in MS Office, particularly advanced Excel skills
• Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP systems is a plus
• Detail-oriented self-starter who thrives on process improvement and problem-solving
• Genuinely curious mindset with the ability to quickly learn new systems and grow professionally
• Team player who embraces challenges and wants to take ownership of their area
• Fluency in English required; proficiency in Dutch, German, or French is a strong advantage
• Currently authorized to work in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg, or France (visa sponsorship not available)
