Senior Accountant/ Finance Specialist (m/w/d) – remote

Responsibilities

We are representing a confidential EdTech organization seeking a Senior Accountant / Finance Specialist to serve as the central finance point of contact. In this role, you will own the complete operational finance function, build processes from the ground up, and drive automation wherever feasible.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Operational Finance: Manage accounts payable and receivable, invoice processing, payment terms monitoring, and collections. Oversee daily banking operations, account reconciliations, and cash management. Process travel expenses and team expenditures through modern expense management platforms.
• Revenue Reconciliation: Align digital revenue streams (app stores, payment processors) with bank receipts and ensure accurate recording.
• Tax & Compliance: Serve as the primary liaison with external tax advisors and auditors. Support tax examinations and statutory audits as needed.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with Sales and other departments on deal structures, commission calculations, bonus schemes, and ongoing financial reporting.
• Payroll & Compensation: Prepare, review, and approve domestic and international payroll, including sales bonus calculations and coordination with global payroll platforms.
• Financial Close & Planning: Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual closes under HGB standards. Support budgeting and financial planning activities.
• Systems & Process Improvement: Lead implementation of new finance software, maintain master data integrity, and continuously enhance finance workflows.
• Automation & AI: Identify high-value automation opportunities, build tool integrations, and actively deploy AI solutions to streamline recurring tasks.

This is initially a one-year contract with strong potential for extension or conversion to permanent employment.

What We're Looking For

• Experience: Several years managing finance operations independently across multiple disciplines (accounting, payroll, financial close)
• Technical Skills: Proficiency with DATEV is required. Familiarity with platforms like Scopevisio, Spendesk, or CRM systems integrated with sales workflows is advantageous
• Digital & AI Mindset: Comfort with emerging technologies and active use of AI tools to drive efficiency gains
• Work Style: Self-directed, proactive approach with genuine ownership mentality
• Languages: Excellent German and good English communication skills
• Location: Remote within Germany
