The Ohio State University seeks a full-time Security Officer-FOP to maintain campus safety and security across our US-based facilities. In this role, you'll join our dedicated security team in protecting our students, faculty, staff, and visitors while upholding the university's commitment to a secure learning and working environment.
About the Role
As a Security Officer-FOP, you'll serve as a frontline resource for maintaining order, preventing incidents, and responding to security concerns across campus. This position requires vigilance, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm under pressure while interacting professionally with the university community and emergency personnel.
What You'll Do
- Patrol assigned areas on a regular basis to deter unauthorized activity and identify security risks
- Monitor building access points and verify identification of individuals in restricted zones
- Respond to security incidents and emergencies with appropriate urgency and care
- Document incidents accurately and file comprehensive security reports
- Communicate effectively with campus law enforcement, emergency responders, and security colleagues
- Observe and report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and safety concerns
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor in all interactions
- Support additional security initiatives and special events as needed
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current, valid driver's license
- Physical ability to perform patrol duties, walk extended distances, and respond to emergencies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail and documentation abilities
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a security team
- Willingness to follow university security protocols and procedures
- Professional presence and commitment to integrity
