Student Assistant 2 – FABE

The Opportunity

As a Student Assistant 2, you'll work alongside faculty researchers and program managers in a dynamic academic environment. This intermediate-level position is ideal for students ready to take on greater responsibility and develop professional skills in a university setting focused on global food systems, agricultural innovation, and environmental sustainability.

Your Responsibilities

• Support faculty and graduate students with laboratory, field, or office-based research and departmental projects
• Assist with data collection, organization, and preliminary analysis for academic and research initiatives
• Maintain equipment, facilities, and records; perform routine maintenance and calibration as assigned
• Prepare samples, materials, and supplies for experiments or field studies
• Document findings, observations, and project progress with accuracy and attention to detail
• Provide general administrative or technical support to faculty and departmental staff
• Possibly mentor or supervise Student Assistant 1 team members on assigned tasks

What We're Looking For

• Currently enrolled at The Ohio State University as an undergraduate or graduate student
• Demonstrated organizational and time-management skills, with ability to prioritize competing tasks
• Ability to work independently and follow detailed instructions with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in data collection and documentation
• Interest in food systems, agriculture, environmental sciences, or related disciplines
• Reliable, professional communication and collaborative work ethic
• Relevant coursework or prior experience in your area of assignment is a plus
