About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential B2B media organization seeking an exceptional Sales Director to lead a commercial sales team while maintaining responsibility for their own high-value territory. This is a hands-on leadership role designed for someone who wants to develop others without stepping away from active selling.
Our client helps ambitious B2B brands influence senior decision-makers through integrated marketing solutions including branded content, thought leadership, proprietary research, digital experiences, events, and demand generation programs. They publish premium special interest reports that provide distinctive platforms for reaching senior business audiences.
This role carries dual accountability: delivering exceptional results from your own territory while coaching your team to consistently achieve theirs. You'll lead from the front, developing senior client relationships and closing meaningful business, while raising the performance standards, pipeline quality, and forecasting accuracy across your team.
Responsibilities
- Own both a personal revenue target and accountability for your sales team's commercial performance
- Actively develop your territory, build senior client relationships, and lead complex sales cycles through to close
- Translate revenue goals into clear territory priorities, account plans, pipeline expectations, and measurable outcomes
- Build a high-performance culture with clear expectations, consistent accountability, and defined standards of excellence
- Coach sellers through one-to-ones, call coaching, deal strategy, pipeline reviews, and account planning to strengthen discovery, value selling, stakeholder management, negotiation, and closing capabilities
- Ensure the team sells integrated solutions built around client objectives rather than individual products
- Drive pipeline management rigor by challenging assumptions, testing deal quality, identifying risk early, and maintaining visibility into future revenue
- Focus on both new business development and account growth, ensuring sellers proactively create opportunities and engage senior decision-makers
- Personally support strategically important or complex opportunities where your experience can materially improve outcomes
- Use revenue, conversion, pipeline, and market data to identify performance gaps and determine appropriate interventions
- Maintain strong sales process, CRM discipline, and opportunity management standards across the team
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure solutions are compelling, achievable, and aligned with promised customer experiences
- Recruit exceptional talent and develop high-potential team members into future senior sellers and sales leaders
- Address underperformance early through clear expectations, targeted coaching, and measurable improvement plans
What We're Looking For
- Accomplished B2B media, publishing, or marketing solutions salesperson with consistent record of delivering ambitious revenue targets and winning complex, high-value opportunities with senior marketing decision-makers
- Significant experience carrying a personal quota, with proven ability to generate pipeline, engage clients, and close meaningful business
- Leadership or player-coach experience, or compelling evidence of readiness to take accountability for others' performance and development
- Demonstrated ability to generate business through intelligent prospecting, territory strategy, and account development while leading sophisticated sales cycles from discovery through negotiation and close
- Strong understanding of how B2B marketers approach brand, content, thought leadership, research, audience engagement, events, and demand generation, with ability to connect these into integrated solutions
- Commercial curiosity and ability to move conversations beyond initial briefs to uncover underlying objectives, challenges, urgency, and opportunity
- Sound judgment around pipeline and deal quality, including distinguishing activity from progress and interest from genuine intent
- Credible coaching style grounded in diagnosing performance gaps, providing clear actionable feedback, and adapting approach to different individuals while maintaining high standards
- Track record of developing high performers and addressing underperformance directly, constructively, and decisively
- Clear judgment about when direct involvement improves outcomes versus when coaching others is the better path
- Clear, confident communication and credibility to represent the organization with senior clients, executives, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Resilience, competitiveness, curiosity, high accountability, and ambition to develop people, raise standards, and influence commercial strategy
- Currently authorized to work in the United Kingdom (visa sponsorship not available)
