Research Technician – Horvitz Lab

About the Role

The Horvitz Lab conducts fundamental research in neurobiology and molecular biology. As a Research Technician, you will serve as a key member of the research team, providing essential technical support that drives our investigations forward. Your work directly contributes to experiments, data collection, and the daily operations that enable breakthrough science.

What You'll Do

• Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and workspaces to ensure experiments meet the highest standards
• Conduct experiments and assist with data collection under the supervision of principal investigators and senior researchers
• Prepare biological samples, media, and reagents for research protocols
• Record, organize, and support the analysis of experimental data
• Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and documentation for compliance and reproducibility
• Troubleshoot technical issues and optimize laboratory procedures
• Support the research team with literature review and information synthesis as needed

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or a related discipline preferred
• Demonstrated experience working in a research laboratory environment
• Proficiency with laboratory techniques such as microscopy, sample preparation, or molecular procedures
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity
• Ability to follow complex protocols and maintain strict adherence to safety procedures
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable and self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple tasks independently
