Role Overview
This postdoctoral fellowship is designed to develop your research independence, mentorship capabilities, and publication record while investigating the neurobiological and psychological foundations of trauma and recovery. Working alongside Dr. Sabra Inslicht and a multidisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians, you'll contribute to ongoing studies that translate basic science findings into real-world clinical applications for trauma-exposed populations at the San Francisco VA Health Care System.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
- Design and conduct original research on PTSD, trauma-related sleep disturbances, and fear learning processes
- Collect, manage, and analyze data from clinical research cohorts and laboratory protocols
- Collaborate with clinical staff, research scientists, and interdisciplinary team members on study implementation
- Prepare peer-reviewed manuscripts, conference presentations, and research communications
- Maintain rigorous standards for data management, regulatory compliance, and research ethics
- Participate in lab meetings, professional development, and journal club discussions
Qualifications
- Ph.D., Psy.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in psychology, neuroscience, psychiatry, or related discipline
- Research experience in trauma, PTSD, sleep science, or cognitive neuroscience
- Demonstrated competence in research design, quantitative analysis, and scientific writing
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary settings
- Commitment to advancing evidence-based mental health care for veteran and civilian populations
