Registered Nurse (RN) – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit

About the Role

As a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit nurse at Manchester Memorial Hospital, you'll deliver specialized nursing care to critically ill and premature infants and their families. This full-time position operates on a rotating shift schedule (every third weekend and every third holiday, 7pm–7am) at our MMH-71 Haynes Street facility in Rocky Hill.

What You'll Do

• Provide direct patient care to newborns requiring intensive medical support, including mechanical ventilation and advanced monitoring
• Assess and monitor vital signs, fluid status, and clinical changes throughout shifts
• Administer medications and therapies under physician direction, maintaining detailed clinical documentation
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, respiratory therapists, and specialty providers
• Educate and support families during high-stress situations, fostering communication and involvement in care
• Maintain infection control and safety protocols to protect vulnerable infant populations
• Respond to acute changes and emergencies with clinical precision and composure

What We're Looking For

• Current Connecticut RN license and active unrestricted registration
• Strong clinical foundation in intensive care nursing or medical-surgical nursing
• Ability to work rotating shifts, including every third weekend and every third holiday
• Compassionate approach to patient and family care in emotionally complex situations
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
• Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous professional development
• NICU experience preferred but not required; we offer comprehensive orientation and training
