Registered Nurse RN Inpatient Surgical Unit

Portsmouth Regional Hospital is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Inpatient Surgical Unit team in Auburn, Rockingham County. About the Role

As a Registered Nurse in our Inpatient Surgical Unit, you'll provide direct nursing care to patients throughout their surgical journey—from pre-operative assessment through post-operative recovery. This part-time position places you at the center of a surgical team committed to clinical excellence, patient safety, and exceptional outcomes. You'll collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary colleagues to ensure each patient receives comprehensive, compassionate care.

What You'll Do

• Assess and monitor surgical patients across all phases of care, responding promptly to changes in condition
• Administer medications, fluids, and treatments as ordered; manage post-operative pain and symptom management
• Perform wound care, dressing changes, and post-operative monitoring with attention to infection prevention
• Educate patients and families about pre-operative preparation and post-operative recovery expectations
• Maintain accurate, thorough documentation and medical records in compliance with regulations
• Communicate effectively with the surgical team and coordinate care transitions
• Advocate for patient safety, comfort, and dignity throughout the surgical experience

What We're Looking For

• Current, unrestricted RN licensure in your state
• Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making abilities
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic surgical environment
• Genuine commitment to patient-centered care and safety
• Experience in surgical or perioperative nursing preferred
