About This Opportunity
We are representing a confidential application security organization seeking a Regional Field Chief Technology Officer for the EMEA region. This is a strategic, customer-facing technical leadership role where you will serve as a trusted advisor to C-level executives and senior technical leaders at enterprise accounts. You'll operate at the intersection of technology, sales, and customer success—translating complex platform capabilities into credible technical narratives while representing our client as a thought leader across the industry.
This position reports to the VP of Sales Engineering with a dotted line to Product & Technology. The role is remote within EMEA, with presence in UK, Netherlands, France, Italy, Ireland, Finland, Sweden, and Germany.
Responsibilities
- Serve as trusted technical advisor and executive sponsor for C-level and senior technical stakeholders at strategic enterprise and federal accounts, pivoting between business strategy, risk, compliance, and technical architecture discussions
- Lead high-visibility technical engagements including executive briefings, architecture reviews, whiteboard sessions, customer advisory feedback loops, and partner or analyst-facing discussions
- Represent the organization as a technical evangelist, delivering keynotes, webinars, whitepapers, and thought leadership content at industry events, and engaging with press, analysts, and partners
- Translate platform AI/ML capabilities, detection engines, and architecture into clear narratives for technical and executive audiences, addressing responsible AI practices including data privacy, model governance, and human-in-the-loop controls
- Partner with Sales and Presales leadership on strategic opportunities, leading technical deep-dives, architecture reviews, and advising on product launches, roadmap changes, and competitive positioning
- Support RFPs and security questionnaires with authoritative technical input, articulating competitive differentiation including AI/ML capabilities
- Proactively engage strategic accounts to strengthen technical trust, identify expansion opportunities, mitigate renewal risk, and guide customers toward secure software development maturity
- Identify and solve problems of strategic scope using innovative approaches to remove technical barriers and improve business outcomes
- Provide field-informed guidance on emerging AI-assisted software development, agentic workflows, application security trends, and competitive market dynamics
- Capture and synthesize regional customer, partner, and market feedback into actionable input for Product, Engineering, and Sales teams, influencing roadmap and go-to-market strategy
- Coach and enable sales engineers and account executives on technical storytelling, including accurate explanation of AI features
What We're Looking For
- 15+ years in senior technical leadership roles (CTO, Sales Engineering leader, Principal Architect, or equivalent), including several years in customer-facing or field/pre-sales capacity
- Proven track record engaging and influencing C-level and senior technical audiences at enterprise organizations across complex sales cycles
- Domain expertise in application security (SAST, SCA, DAST), enterprise architecture, cloud/SaaS platforms, APIs and integrations, and security best practices
- Deep, practical understanding of AI/ML concepts applied to security (anomaly detection, large language models, behavioral analytics, AI-assisted development, agentic workflows), including limitations and controls needed for responsible adoption
- Demonstrated success negotiating with and influencing executive leadership, customers, partners, analysts, or vendors to shape technical decisions and business outcomes
- Ability to exercise wide latitude in determining objectives and approaches for complex, critical assignments with material regional or market impact
- Experience shaping standards, methods, practices, or market-facing technical narratives within an industry
- Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear stories for both executive and highly technical audiences
- Demonstrated industry presence through conference speaking, published thought leadership, active contribution to industry/analyst communities, or customer advisory leadership
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% to customer sites and industry events
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
Preferred: MBA or other advanced degree
