QA Engineer (Part-time, Remote in Canada)

Our talent team at Get A Job.ai is representing a confidential GovTech organization based in Vancouver that is building a composable content management platform for municipal digital services. They are seeking their first dedicated QA Engineer for a 6-month part-time term position working remotely within Canada.

Important: This position closes Sunday, September 13, 2026 at 5pm PT. Interviews begin the week of September 14, with a preferred start date of October 1, 2026.

This is a unique opportunity to establish QA processes from the ground up in an organization that serves Canadian municipalities. You'll split your time between traditional testing responsibilities and validating AI-powered content migration pipelines. The role offers a 4-day workweek (Monday–Thursday) at 20 hours per week, with flexible scheduling between 9am–7pm PT.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute test plans, strategies, and test cases for platform features and customer implementations
• Perform manual and automated testing including functional, regression, usability, cross-browser, responsive, and end-to-end integration testing across web applications and APIs
• Write and maintain automated test scripts using JavaScript or TypeScript with tools like Playwright or Cypress
• Define quality standards for AI content-migration output, validate AI-generated records against source content, and track pipeline accuracy
• Verify migrated municipal content for accuracy, structure, and metadata quality
• Conduct web accessibility testing to ensure WCAG 2.2 AA compliance for customer projects and platform features
• Test incrementally during development sprints, verify release candidates before deployment, and support User Acceptance Testing with clients
• Identify, log, and track defects in Jira, collaborating with leadership, design, and development teams on resolution
• Recommend and help implement testing tools and automation frameworks alongside engineering teams
• Provide clear progress updates and support quality-focused delivery across the organization

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of QA experience testing web application frontends and backend APIs, both manually and with automation
• Proficiency with test automation tools such as Playwright or Cypress
• Experience with API testing tools like Postman and SQL for database validation
• Ability to read and work within a JavaScript, Node.js, and React.js codebase
• Strong knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 and 2.2 AA+) with hands-on accessibility testing experience
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
• Clear written and verbal communication abilities
• Comfortable working in ambiguous environments and creating processes where none exist
• Interest in using and evaluating AI tools with a critical, evidence-based approach
• University degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or related field (or equivalent practical experience and certifications)
• Must be physically located in Canada and legally authorized to work in Canada

Bonus Skills:

• Experience testing integrations and embedded third-party systems
• Performance testing experience with tools like JMeter or Google Lighthouse
• Familiarity with security testing concepts for web applications, APIs, or cloud infrastructure
• Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Azure
• Knowledge of content management systems, especially headless or composable architectures
• Relevant certifications such as ISTQB, CSQA, CSTE, or accessibility-related certifications
• Previous work on government or enterprise SaaS projects

Pay
