About This Opportunity
Our talent team is representing a confidential cloud technology services organization seeking a Principal Site Reliability Engineer to join their professional services practice. This is a fully remote position based in South Africa, with eligibility for candidates in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, or Senegal.
You'll serve as technical lead on multiple client engagements simultaneously, working with cutting-edge cloud-native infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP. This role reports to a Site Reliability Engineering Manager and represents senior technical leadership within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Design and build advanced cloud-native infrastructure solutions for client engagements
- Lead technical discussions with clients and develop technical roadmaps
- Collaborate with engineering directors to design and refine architecture
- Support resource planning and career development initiatives for engineering teams
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to domain experts and individual contributors across multiple teams
- Document processes and monitor performance metrics
- Drive improvements in stability, scalability, security, cost-effectiveness, and operational excellence
- Conduct infrastructure planning, testing, and development activities
- Evaluate and implement new technologies to maximize efficiency and security
- Remove technical blockers and facilitate cross-team collaboration
What We're Looking For
Required Experience:
- 7+ years of experience working in DevOps/SRE roles
- Extensive experience with team management and collaboration
- Advanced knowledge of data encryption and cybersecurity best practices
- Deep understanding of DevOps/SRE landscape, architectures, and emerging technologies
- Cloud platform experience with GCP, Azure, and AWS
- Strong background in observability practices and incident management
- Extensive experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Stack, and Beats within Kubernetes environments
- Proven expertise with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools, preferably Ansible
- Extensive experience building and maintaining Kubernetes clusters and workloads
- Ability to design and implement robust CI/CD pipelines
- Solid foundation in networking and security concepts
- Familiarity with both relational and non-relational databases
- Strong Linux operating systems knowledge
