AI Engineer – FDE (Forward Deployed Engineer)

About This Opportunity

We are representing a confidential data platform organization seeking an AI Engineer - Forward Deployed Engineer to join their specialized customer-facing AI team in Munich, Germany. This role combines cutting-edge GenAI development with direct client engagement, helping enterprise customers build and productionize first-of-its-kind AI applications.

This is a remote position for candidates based in the Germany region only. The role requires occasional travel (once every 4-8 weeks) to meet with customers as needed.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced GenAI solutions incorporating the latest techniques in large language models, RAG systems, multi-agent architectures, and fine-tuning
• Own production rollouts of consumer-facing and internal GenAI applications from concept through deployment
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to enterprise customers across diverse industry domains
• Present technical solutions and thought leadership at industry conferences and customer engagements
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to influence platform priorities and shape the roadmap
• Build evaluation frameworks and optimization strategies for production-grade AI systems

What We're Looking For

• GenAI expertise: Hands-on experience building GenAI applications including RAG, multi-agent systems, Text2SQL, and fine-tuning using tools such as HuggingFace, LangChain, and DSPy
• Production deployment: Proven track record deploying production-grade GenAI applications with proper evaluation and optimization practices
• Data science foundation: Multiple years of industry experience with machine learning and data science tools including pandas, scikit-learn, and PyTorch
• Cloud infrastructure: Experience building production machine learning deployments on AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Education: Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Operations Research, or equivalent practical experience
• Communication skills: Strong ability to communicate and teach technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Collaboration: Passion for teamwork, continuous learning, and driving business value through AI
• Preferred: Experience with distributed data processing frameworks and large-scale datasets
• Travel: Willingness to travel once every 4-8 weeks for customer engagements
