Pharmacy Intern – Inpatient

Core Duties

• Assist with preparation, packaging, and delivery of unit-dose and other inpatient medications under direct pharmacist oversight
• Help process medication orders, verify patient profiles, and complete accurate documentation in the pharmacy system
• Support inventory management by restocking shelves, rotating stock, and monitoring expiration dates
• Participate in sterile and non-sterile compounding preparation when required and permitted by protocol
• Contribute to medication-safety activities such as double-checks, discrepancy resolution, and event reporting
• Observe and join selected clinical activities, including medication histories and interdisciplinary discussions, while continuing to learn under supervision

What You Bring

• Active enrollment in an ACPE-accredited Doctor of Pharmacy program
• Eligibility for a Tennessee pharmacy intern license or registration as required for training
• Foundational knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations, drug information, and basic clinical therapeutics
• Strong attention to detail, organizational habits, and commitment to patient safety
• Clear verbal and written communication skills that support collaboration with pharmacists, nurses, and other caregivers
