What This Role Involves
As a Neonatal and Pediatric Transport AEMT at Vumc in Clarksville, Tennessee, you will serve on a focused transport team that isolates, stabilizes, and moves critically ill or injured newborns and pediatric patients between care settings. The work centers on applying Advanced EMT-level clinical judgment in mobile environments, coordinating closely with nurses, physicians, and receiving facilities, and upholding safety and continuity of care from pickup through handoff. This Full Time Neonatal and Pediatric Transport AEMT opportunity is built for AEMTs who want purposeful, high-acuity pediatric transport work close to Clarksville.
Responsibilities
- Assess neonatal and pediatric patients before and during transport and initiate AEMT-scope interventions to maintain airway, breathing, circulation, and overall stability
- Deliver continuous monitoring, medication support within scope, and rapid response to deterioration while en route
- Prepare, check, and operate specialty transport equipment, stretchers, and monitors so devices remain ready and functional
- Collaborate with referring and receiving clinicians to communicate status, needs, and updates throughout each transfer
- Document assessments, treatments, vital signs, and handoffs accurately and on time for the clinical record
- Assist with safe loading, securing, and unloading of patients and gear while following infection-control and transport safety protocols
- Support family presence and clear communication whenever clinical conditions allow
- Maintain vehicle and equipment readiness and complete required shift, inventory, and quality tasks expected of a Neonatal and Pediatric Transport AEMT
What We're Looking For
- Valid AEMT credential authorizing practice at the advanced emergency medical technician level
- Ability to perform under time pressure with neonatal and pediatric patients in both clinical and mobile settings
- Strong assessment, prioritization, and team communication skills suited to high-acuity transport
- Physical capacity to lift, move, and secure patients and equipment during routine and urgent transfers
- Dependable Full Time availability and a professional approach to safety, documentation, and standards of care
