Part-time Virtual Medical Assistant | New York Mental Health Practice

About This Opportunity

Our talent team is representing a confidential mental health practice seeking a Part-time Virtual Medical Assistant to support clinical operations. This is a remote position based in Costa Rica, supporting telehealth and in-person patient services in the New York market.

We are looking for an experienced virtual medical assistant with a strong background in mental health or behavioral health administration to join our client's growing practice.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patient appointments and send appointment reminders
• Support patient intake processes and verify insurance eligibility
• Sort and route incoming patient portal messages to appropriate channels
• Prepare required paperwork for prior authorizations
• Submit insurance claims and follow up on outstanding claims
• Send pre-approved standard patient communications
• Log prescription refill requests and queue them for provider review
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant patient communication and documentation standards

What We're Looking For

Required:

• Previous experience working in a New York mental health or behavioral health practice
• Proven track record as a Virtual Medical Assistant or healthcare administrative professional
• Hands-on experience with insurance verification, patient intake, scheduling, and claims processing
• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential patient information appropriately
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail
• Working knowledge of New York healthcare systems and payer processes

Preferred:

• Experience with electronic health record systems commonly used in mental health settings
• Advanced medical billing experience
• Previous experience supporting psychiatric or advanced practice providers
