The Opportunity

We're seeking an experienced Health Information Management educator to lead part-time instruction in our growing Health Information Management program. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional to share your expertise with motivated students preparing for careers in healthcare data management, clinical documentation, and health records administration. You'll deliver engaging, practical instruction that connects classroom learning to real-world healthcare settings across Maryland's healthcare system.

What You'll Do

• Teach Health Information Management coursework to part-time and evening students, covering medical coding, health records management, regulatory compliance, and healthcare IT systems
• Develop and deliver curriculum that meets accreditation standards and prepares students for professional certification exams
• Assess student learning and maintain records of academic progress
• Collaborate with colleagues to strengthen the Health Information Management program
• Provide mentorship and academic support to help students succeed
• Stay current with health information industry standards and best practices

Who We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Health Information Management or a related healthcare field
• Active Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential, or equivalent professional certification
• Minimum 3–5 years of professional experience in health information management, medical coding, healthcare compliance, or a related healthcare specialty
• Strong ability to communicate complex healthcare concepts clearly to diverse learners
• Commitment to student success and professional development
• Familiarity with healthcare regulations (HIPAA, HIM best practices) is strongly preferred
