MC is seeking a Manager of Classification and Compensation to join our team in Montgomery County, Maryland. In this full-time role, you'll lead compensation strategy, job classification initiatives, and pay equity programs that support our organization's growth and compliance.

About the Role

This position is central to our Human Resources function, overseeing the design, implementation, and administration of our classification and compensation frameworks. You'll work cross-functionally with leadership and department managers to ensure our pay practices align with market standards, internal equity, and regulatory requirements. The Manager of Classification and Compensation serves as the primary expert on job grading, pay bands, and compensation policy throughout the organization.

Your Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain job classification systems and position evaluation methodologies
  • Conduct market research and compensation analysis to benchmark roles and salary ranges
  • Design and implement compensation programs that attract and retain talent while managing costs
  • Lead pay equity audits and remediation efforts to ensure compliance and fairness
  • Provide compensation guidance to hiring managers, executives, and HR leadership
  • Administer salary review cycles and ensure consistent application of compensation policies
  • Prepare reports and recommendations on compensation trends and organizational needs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in compensation, job classification, or HR operations
  • Strong knowledge of job evaluation methods, pay equity principles, and compensation best practices
  • Experience with compensation management systems and HRIS platforms
  • Excellent analytical and research skills with proficiency in data analysis
  • Professional certification such as SHRM-CP or similar is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex compensation concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
